In a World Full of Botox and Filler, Here's Why I Choose Facials and Skin Boosters

In today’s beauty-obsessed world, where Botox and fillers are increasingly common, it’s easy to feel the pressure to jump on the bandwagon. But for me, beauty isn’t about erasing every line or chasing the latest injectable trend. It’s about nurturing the skin you have, working with what’s natural, and embracing a glow that’s real. That’s why I choose facials and skin boosters—no needles, no panic, just results that feel like you.

Nurses vs. Beauty Therapists: Why It Matters

A common debate in the aesthetics world is whether only medical professionals, like nurses, are suited to handle facial treatments. From my experience, I believe that if a beauty therapist has achieved proper qualifications, such as an HND in beauty therapy, their knowledge is absolutely valid. But more than just qualifications, the personality and approach of the practitioner play a massive role.

I’ve been on training courses where nurses, despite their incredible medical expertise, felt uncomfortable with simple tasks like cleansing a face. For them, it’s unfamiliar territory—more clinical than personal. Beauty therapists, however, are trained to have a hands-on, gentle touch, working with the skin in an intimate way that’s second nature to them. They know how to look at a face, analyze its features, and make beauty tweaks that suit the individual, all while focusing on a harmonious, natural look.

Why Facials and Skin Boosters?

When it comes to the skin, I believe in treatments that nourish and support its natural processes. Procedures like radiofrequency microneedling, when done right, can be transformative for skin texture and rejuvenation, offering a non-invasive way to firm and refresh your appearance. Skin boosters like Seventy Hyal and polynucleotides are another favorite—they deeply hydrate and enhance the skin without changing your facial structure.

But when it comes to injectables like Botox and fillers, I’ve chosen to take a step back. Even with excellent training and an understanding of facial anatomy, the risk of complications like vascular occlusion is real. And I know myself—I would panic in those high-pressure moments. That’s just my nature. But for someone who can stay calm and collected, whether it’s a nurse, a doctor, or a well-trained beauty therapist, it’s completely different.

It’s Not About Titles, It’s About Skill

What I’ve come to believe is that it’s not just about being a nurse or doctor. I don’t think it should be restricted to medical professionals alone. What really matters is that the person doing the treatment is both comfortable with the hands-on aspect of the work and fully equipped to handle any potential complications, like a vascular occlusion. As long as they’ve had the proper training and can stay calm under pressure, the title doesn’t matter—what matters is their ability to care for their clients safely and effectively.

The Beauty of a Gentle Touch

This is where beauty therapists truly excel. Their training focuses on the delicate, personal touch required for facial treatments. They aren’t just treating the skin—they are nurturing it. Beauty therapists are skilled at noticing the small details, like brow alignment and skin texture, and making subtle adjustments that bring out the natural beauty of each face. This artistic, holistic approach is what sets them apart, and it’s something that often gets overlooked in more clinical settings.

There’s a certain beauty in aging gracefully, and in knowing that you can care for your skin without completely transforming it. Holistic facials and skin boosters offer that—they let your natural beauty shine, while still giving your skin the support it needs to stay healthy and radiant.

For Now, It’s a No to Botox

The beauty industry has room for many perspectives. While I have great respect for nurses and doctors, I believe that beauty therapists, when properly trained, have an incredible ability to understand and work with the skin in ways that go beyond the clinical. For me, it’s about finding someone who is not only technically qualified but who is also comfortable with that hands-on connection with the skin, and can remain calm when challenges arise.

For now, I’m choosing facials, skin boosters, and holistic treatments over injectables because I believe in a natural, radiant approach to beauty. It’s not just about looking good; it’s about feeling good, too.

So, here’s to loving your skin, embracing your natural glow, and feeling confident in every stage of life. Let’s redefine beauty together.
